These two programs address safety and protection for the
older adults in our community.
The Augmented Multidisciplinary Team (AMDT – MDT) provides MDT-like services that address financial exploitation, abuse of adults, and extreme cases of self-neglect for adults aged 18-59 years of age. Bringing together entities with unique resources and skills to coordinated A-MDTs in five counties.
These teams provide improved and effective cross-systems collaboration and specialized responses resulting in restored safety and security to adults in New York.
Enhance Multidisciplinary Team (E-MDT)
Membership is based on the unique needs and resources of the individual county. It is important to identify and recruit E-MDT members representing key programs and services within each county.
Key member agencies for each county include:
- Coordinator
- Adult Protective Services
- District Attorney’s Office
- Law enforcement
- Office for the Aging
Additional member agencies to consider may include:
- Elder abuse prevention providers
- Civil legal service providers
- Bank/credit unions
- Financial advisors
- Domestic violence service providers
- Ombudsman
- Welfare fraud investigator
- Veterans Administration
- Department of Social Services
- Elder law attorney
- County Attorney’s Office
- Attorney General’s Office
- Department of Taxation and Finance
All referrals to the E-MDT and AMDT-MDT programs are professional based and must go through a referral system. The referral sources are: Department of Social Services, Adult Protective Services, Financial Institutions, Office for Aging, Primary Care Physicians, and any other agency working with the potential victim.
